The painted limestone relief
above shows Senwsret I being embraced by Hrw of Edfu. The
pillar dates to the 12th Dynasty, but was found in a massive
collection which had been hidden by the ancient Egyptians. The
cache in question was found under the courtyard in front of
the seventh pylon of the Temple of Amn-Ra at Karnak. This
collection housed artifacts which spanned the centuries
between the 11th Dynasty all the way into the Ptolemaic Period |
This granite and limestone
votive statue represents Rameses II as a divine child under
the protection of the god Horun- an import from the land of
Lebanon Who soon came to be identified with Hr-akhty (Hrw of

Falcon collar, belonging
to Princess Khnwmit, 12th Dynasty

dating to the Fourth Dynasty, this statue shows King Khafra
enthroned and protected by the divine wings of Hrw
