Lord Sutekh has many names and titles.

Names: Set, Seti, Sutekh, Setesh, Setekh, Setech, Sutech, Sutyy, the Greeks called him Seth. (or as the Ancient Egyptians wrote his name Stkh)

Titles: Lord of the Storm, Lord of Chaos, Lord of Upper Egypt, Lord of the Red Land, Lord of the Northern Sky, God of Thunder in Heaven, God of Confusion, "He Before Whom the Sky Shakes".

Seth was usually depicted in human form with a head of indeterminate origin, though said to resemble that of an aardvark. He had a curved snout, erect square- tipped ears and a long forked tail. Sometimes he was represented in entirely animal form with a body similar to that of a greyhound.

He was the son either of Nut and Geb, and the brother of Isis, Osiris and Nephthys. Nephthys was sometimes given as his consort.

A God of strength, war, storms, foreign lands (and foreigners) and deserts.

Despite his reputation, he had an important Temple at Ombos in Upper Egypt, his reputed birthplace, and had his cult was also prominent in the north-eastern region of the Nile delta. Pharaoh Seti was named after Lord Set.

Set protected the sun God (Ra) as he journeyed through the land of the dead during the night. Most notably, he fought and killed Apep (Apophis), the evil serpent of darkness (And uncreation) who attacked Ra each night.

One of the more common epithets was that he was 'great of strength'. In one of the Pyramid Texts it states that the king's strength is that of Set.

Set was associated with, donkeys, crocodiles and hippopotami.

Sutekh is the Lord of Chaos but in a good way. Life needs chaos to change and grow or it becomes stagnant and withers. Sutekh is that necessary challenge we all need to keep going.

Set at all times, while not exactly a "nice guy," is a necessary force in the universe - that of strength and violent force - and in Kemetic myth, even Ra acknowledges this, by awarding the post of guardian of the Boat of Millions of Years to Set after the kingship is given to Heru, because Set "is the only one strong enough to do it."

There was an important sanctuary at Ombos in Upper Egypt, his reputed birthplace, and considered to be the home of his cult. This cult was also prominent in the north-eastern region of the Nile delta.
